Water Leak Detection Program

Client

NIH clinical research center

A failure of a solder joint at an isolation valve resulted in major water damage and disruption for the operation of this critical facility. As a result a water leak detection & management program was implemented. GMS performed the first phase of this program by completing a full review of the systems using a water dye leak detection system. This review identified all leaks and GMS made repairs to the affected piping and insulation. The next task involved installing leak detection sensors, flow meters and automated isolation valves to allow rapid detection and notification of a future leak event. GMS installed these devices in readily accessible space and connected them to the existing BAS system for alarm purposes and providing new BAS points to accommodate the new work.
