MEP Superintendent

The superintendent will be responsible for overseeing our operations in the DC / Baltimore metro and must be comfortable with travel between these locations. This is a Union position starting at $53.77 an hour plus amazing benefits and a company vehicle!

Project Leadership:

  • Oversee daily operations for multiple crews ranging in size from 2 to 20 people on various projects.
  • Ensure all crews are aligned with project objectives, customer requirements, and company standards.
  • Manage day-to-day site activities, including labor, material coordination, and logistics, ensuring that projects stay on schedule and within budget.
  • Provide leadership and direction to foremen, ensuring clarity in roles and responsibilities.

Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate project teams consisting of up to 50 individuals.
  • Develop a culture of accountability, teamwork, and high performance, ensuring each crew member is fully prepared and equipped for success.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and facilitate ongoing professional development for team members.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Enforce all safety protocols, ensuring compliance with GMS safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential safety hazards on job sites.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and site inspections to uphold the highest safety standards.
  • Candidates must have OSHA 30 Safety training or an equivalent certification.

Logistics & Resource Coordination:

  • Ensure the timely procurement and delivery of materials, tools, and equipment for all projects.
  • Coordinate with vendors, subcontractors, and external partners to secure resources such as cranes, trucking, and other essential equipment.
  • Manage relationships with subcontractors, ensuring they meet GMS quality and safety expectations.

Customer Interaction:

  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for customers, addressing their concerns, and ensuring satisfaction with project outcomes.
  • Represent GMS professionally in all customer interactions, fostering strong client relationships and promoting repeat business.

Reporting & Communication:

  • Provide regular updates and reports to the Operations Manager regarding project progress, resource needs, safety issues, and other key metrics.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager and other departments to ensure seamless communication across teams and projects.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the mechanical/HVAC trades, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing crews of 40-50 people.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time and on-budget completion.
  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems, HVAC installations, piping, and sheet metal work.
  • OSHA 30 Safety training or equivalent certification.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA safety regulations and a demonstrated commitment to workplace safety.
  • Experience in coordinating large-scale logistics, including materials procurement, equipment rental, and subcontractor management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, vendors, and team members.
  • Proficiency in project management software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in HVAC, mechanical systems, or project management.
  • Experience with building out and retrofitting mechanical systems in Data Centers, Healthcare sites, Commercial Facilities, Government Facilities, Sports, and Entertainment Facilities is a plus.
  • Experience working on federal or government contracts.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make decisions under pressure.
